<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
When Leila discovers the Web site Red Pill, she feels she has finally found people who understand her. A sheltered young woman raised by her mother, Leila has often struggled to connect with the girls at school; but on Red Pill, a chat forum for ethical debate, Leila comes into her own, impressing the Web site's founder, a brilliant and elusive man named Adrian. Leila is thrilled when Adrian asks to meet her, flattered when he invites her to be part of "Project Tess." Tess is a woman Leila might never have met in real life. She is beautiful, urbane, witty, and damaged. As they e-mail, chat, and Skype, Leila becomes enveloped in the world of Tess, learning every single thing she can about this other woman—because soon, Leila will have to become her. An ingeniously plotted novel of stolen identity, Kiss Me First is brilliantly frightening about the lies we tell—to ourselves, to others, for good, and for ill."

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Thank you to the lovely people at Pan Macmillan who supplied me with a copy of this book for review purposes.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Where do I even start?! Now it has been a while since I read it but it was just so amazing that I need to tell you all about it!!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Husband's Secret is a very hard book to talk about without giving away any spoilers but I will do my best because you need to discover all the secrets hidden within these pages yourselves!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Initially there are 3 main people we are introduced too. Tess, Rachel and Cecilia. Now at the start it may seem that their stories do not intertwine but showing her amazing story writing skills Liane Moriarty links all of these women and their families in ways that you would not expect.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Rachel is the oldest of the women, with a very unfortunate past. Her daughter died in her early teens. Murdered. The murderer never found. Now Rachel is principle of the school her daughter attended. Rachel gets thrown back in to the past when her son announces that he is taking her grandson overseas. It brings up all those old feelings of loss she had managed to bury. She is now more determined than ever to find her daughters killer and she even believes she knows who it is. Now just to prove it.

Tess has not been having the best time. Her husband and her best friend have been seeing each other behind her back and she decides to up and leave to look after her mother in her home town, taking her son with her. While she is there an old flame is rekindled. He who now works at the same school as Rachel. Only, he went to this school, with Rachel's daughter and was even dating her at one time.

Cecilia is a bubbly and charismatic mother of three lovely daughters. She is a successful
woman and loving mother. Her daughters go to the same school that Rachel is principle at. She is also in the class of Tess' current fling and has a major crush on him. Cecilia's life is all peaches and cream until she discovers a letter holding a terrible secret. Of course I'm not going to tell you what that secret is ;)

As the story grows Cecilia, Tess and Rachel all become connected as do their past, present and future.

This is one book that will leave you begging for more right up till the last page. Which by the way has to be the most well thought out last page in the history of last pages! (too far? you get the idea!) All is most definitely not as it seems in The Husband's Secret but to find out all there is to know you will have to read it yourself!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">From Goodreads: <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">"It's 1946, and as Juliet Ashton sits at her desk in her Chelsea flat, she is stumped. A writer of witty newspaper columns during the war, she can't think of what to write next. Out of the blue, she receives a letter from one Dawsey Adams of Guernsey - by chance he's acquired a book Juliet once owned - and, emboldened by their mutual love of books, they begin a correspondence.

Dawsey is a member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and it's not long before the rest of the members write to Juliet - including the gawky Isola, who makes home-made potions, Eben, the fisherman who loves Shakespeare, and Will Thisbee, rag-and-bone man and chef of the famous potato peel pie. As letters fly back and forth, Juliet comes to know the extraordinary personalities of the Society and their lives under the German occupation of the island. Entranced by their stories, Juliet decides to visit the island to meet them properly - and unwittingly turns her life upside down."
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">See below the bump for the review! :D
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I really don't even know where to start with this one. I so much thank Life of Pi by Yann Martel for getting me onto books such as this. Life of Pi is the new Twilight for me, I know I know, there is that T word that gets fan girls going mental! But Twilight for me is what got me into Young Adult so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Now the same goes for Life of Pi, If it weren't for Life of Pi, I would never have thought to try GLAPPPS (The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society with henceforth be known as GLAPPPS to save me getting RSI from typing it out so many times!!)
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Now for a book with such a long winded title such as GLAPPPS (has, I really had no clue what to expect. I had read the back and thought 'it doesn't sound much like something I would like, but I will give it a go with my new found Life of Pi love.' So I had a gift card from Collins that I was wanting to spend (what a shame that is, huh? hehe) so I bought this and I am so very glad I did. I'm sorry that this isn't remotely Young Adult, but hey! I broadend my book horizons so maybe some of you want to too!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">GLAPPPS is a series of letters 'Dear so and so, bla bla bla bla bla life and things and stuff bla bla, Yours Sincerely, me' You get me? I didn't realise this when I bought the book and my first thought when I realised was 'oh no this is going to be so hard to follow!' Well I was definitely mistaken. Each letter is clearly written, you know exactly who it's coming from and who it's going to. There was very little use of nicknames, or if there was everyone used the same one, so as not to confused the real name and the nickname as two different people (I hate when this happens!).
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Set in 1946 GLAPPS follows the German occupation of Guernsey in in an attempt to occupy England during WWII. Now I will stop there because to be perfectly honest, I am positively shocking at history and dates and what happened when. So for all you history buffs you will know all about it and for those of you who don't, don't worry, you don't necessarily need to understand it all. You just need to know that it was a horrible time (obviously) and there is a lot of heartache that came out of all of it.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
The main character, Juliet, is a writer who is in a serious writing slump and she is not sure how to go about getting out of it. By chance she receives a letter, from a lovely man, Dawsey, who comes across one of her books in Guernsey and writes a letter to her. They start up a unique companionship and send letters back and forth. As their relationship evolves Juliet realises there could be so much more for her in Guernsey than she ever thought possible. She comes in contact with many of Dawsey's friends and acquaintances and feels as though she becomes very good friends with them all.

Juliet decides that her next piece of writing will be about Guernsey and the people of Guernsey and the Pie Society. So what does she do? Well of course she has to visit, off she goes to finally meet all of these people that she knows so well for the first time and finds herself loving it there.

I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed GLAPPPS and since then have been trying to venture even further out of my reading comfort zone!

To end this review I leave you with this little quote that stuck with me:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> I was lucky enough to go to the book release for Creepy & Maud, not knowing much at all about it at the time. Myself and other Perth book bloggers all went, what a perfect outing for us! We got to hear from Dianne Touchell and also got to meet her afterwards and get our books signed.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Creepy & Maud is really not like any book I have read before. It is concerning, disturbing, realistic, powerful, and so many things all rolled in to one.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Every couple of chapters or so the point of view changes from one character to the other. Creepy and Maud live next door to each other, in an unnamed street in Australia. Both houses are two story and both of their bedrooms are on the top floor facing each other. Windoes pretty well lined up for sneaking peaks in. We find the most out about Maud, through Creepy's observations and we find out the most about Creepy through Maud's observations.

Now they are neighbours and go to school together but as far as I am aware, they never use each others actual names. So I can literally only refer to them as Creepy and Maud. Such a unique way to write a story! You feel strangely close to the characters because by looking through their bedroom windows we get the 'behind closed doors' look at their lifes. But at the same time, not knowing their names and only knowing the majority we do about them through observation, we are distanced. It's such a weird concept, but Dianne Touchell makes it work, and makes it work well.

Maud. One of the more 'popular' girls at school. Not your typical popular girl, she keeps to herself mostly and hides all her feelings. Her dad physically abuses her, and Creepy see's it happen. He can't do anything so instead he writes a quote from one of his books and tapes it to his window for her to read. To let her know that he is there for her and to stay strong. At first Maud finds this incredibly weird, this boy is watching her through her window, has she no privacy? He's seen her at her most vulnerable, yet he still seems intrigued. Creepy see's the effect that her parents have had on her, she has a nasty habit of pulling her hair out when she gets emotionally overwhelemd. It's her coping technique. It may sound weird, (which it is and that's the point), but it happens! One of the guys I went to school with used to sit there and pull his eyelashes out. Maud is seriously damaged goods!

Creepy, I found that though a lot of what I understood about him was through Maud, he was more willing to let us in to his head. Maud was a ver closed book (excuse the pun) kind of character and Creepy was far more open. He gave the reader glimpses into his family life, first hand, rather than just what Maud witnesses. Creepy doesn't know, but he is being watched too, Maud watches him. When he isn't watching her, she is watching him. She loves the way he can get lost in a book, so nerdy and quirky. He cares about her, which is crazy seeing as they have never had a real conversation. She is 'the girl next door.'

Creepy & Maud start to interact with notes taped to their bedroom windows. With everything that is going on in both of their lives, it is a welcome distraction. Maud's Dad beats her and Creepy's Dad has it out for his Mum.

Overall a very disturbing but enjoyable read. The content was deep and meaningful but was all wrapped up in a nice little read! Can't wait to see what Dianne Touchell writes in the future!

Happy reading!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">From Goodreads: "<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Enter a tangled world of secrets and intrigue where a girl is in charge of other’s destinies, but not her own.

Sixteen-year-old Adelice Lewys has always been special. <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

Thank you to the lovely people at Allen and Unwin for providing me with a copy for review. This in no way influences my review, all opinions expressed are my own.

Where to even start with Crewel? It was a new and unique concept, at least to me. Being able to alter threads of time? Pretty cool!

Adelice Lewys has a gift. Or I guess you could call it a curse. In a world where women, known as Spinsters, can thread time, nothing is easy. Time is nothing but a blanket of sorts, made up of threads. Spinster contain the ability to weave new threads but to also rip existing threads. Altering life and causing death.

Adelice's parents spent her whole life trying to conceal her from the Coventry, they didn't want her ability to become known. By anyone. At the end of the school year all the girls under go testing, testing to see if they could become a Spinster. Adelice has managed to hide her ability her entire life, but she slips during testing. She slips and she knows. She knows that they will come for her that very same night.

She doesn't tell her parents, so when they show up her parents have to act quickly. Adelice gets shoved into a secret under ground tunnel she knew nothing about with her mum and her sister. While her dad is left there to by them some time. Their plan fails though. Adelice gets caught, and running from collection is punishable by death. Only she wakes in the Coventry to find herself in a cell. Surely that is better than death?

Adelice starts to develop her ability inside the Coventry and along the way she discovers that she isn't like the other girls there. She is far more special than she ever thought, than any of them ever thought.

A unique and fast paced read that kept me on the edge and wanting to know more. I pleasantly surprised to find such a unique read in Crewel. Can't wait to see where the second book takes us and a very big door was opened right at the end of this story.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Worrying is something I have been very good at my whole life. I worry too much and I get anxiety. So I agree with this quote to a point, worrying surely doesn't empty tomorrow of its troubles but feeling the worry, the fear and the anxiety and doing that something anyway. There is no strength quite like it.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Some people might not agree with me, but having suffered with anxiety I can honestly say that pushing through the anxiety and doing things in spite of it gives you such a sense of strength its liberating.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">My Rating:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">From Goodreads: "<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Meet Merlin. He's Lucy's bright, beautiful son -- who just happens to be autistic. Since Merlin's father left them in the lurch shortly after his diagnosis, Lucy has made Merlin the centre of her world. Struggling with the joys and tribulations of raising her eccentrically adorable yet challenging child, (if only Merlin came with operating instructions) Lucy doesn't have room for any other man in her life.

By the time Merlin turns ten, Lucy is seriously worried that the Pope might start ringing her up for tips on celibacy, so resolves to dip a poorly pedicured toe back into the world of dating. Thanks to Merlin's candour and quirkiness, things don't go quite to plan... Then, just when Lucy's resigned to a life of singledom once more, Archie -- the most imperfectly perfect man for her and her son -- lands on her doorstep. But then, so does Merlin's father, begging for forgiveness and a second chance. Does Lucy need a real father for Merlin -- or a real partner for herself?"

Thanks for letting me borrow this one Jodie! You have really opened my eyes to a whole new genre for me!!

I'm really not sure where to start with this review. I guess I will start by saying that I wasn't expecting to love this book as much as I did. I believe I even uttered the words "it is one of my new favourite books" to Jodie. I KNOW. That's big.

The Boy Who Fell to Earth is a wonderful combination of brilliant, witty, heart breaking, quirky, eye opening and funny. I could seriously throw all the adjectives around for this one. Kathy Lette is a genius. Yep. I said it. Genius.

Merlin is one of the most entertaining characters I have ever come across, and I read. A lot. He has Asperger's but this book is written in such a way that you don't feel sorry for him. He is so uniquely and genuinely him that you can't help but love and appreciate everything he says. His mind works so differently to mine that I often found myself thinking "why didn't I ever think about it that way?!" I am desperately wishing I had written down some quotes for you guys! Why didn't I do that?! Ugh how silly of me.

Now this story is more about Lucy, Merlin's mum, I found. It was written from her point of view. Lucy is struggling. She loves Merlin to no end but she doesn't know how to cope sometimes. He gets bullied in school but she can't afford to put him in a special needs school, and she was denied help from the government to do so. Her husband left not long after Merlin's diagnosis and ever since Lucy has been off men. There just isn't room for a man in her life when Merlin needs her so greatly. Only Merlin may not need her as much as she thinks. She coddles him too much, he is bright and smart but lacks in social skills which can often get him into a bit of a mess. I was really impressed with Kathy Lette's writing style. I liked that this was from the mothers point of view. It can't be easy having a kid with Asperger's and she finds herself wondering if she had done something wrong during her pregnancy. Don't get me wrong, Lucy loves Merlin, but it would be difficult to see your child struggle with Asperger's and Lette captures the essence if this greatly.

Things start to get real interesting in The Boy Who Fell to Earth when Archie shows up. Oh Archie, never have I found myself loving such a character. He is Lucy's cousins ex hubby, who is an Aussie (woop woop go us Aussies!) moves in with her because he needs a place to stay. He is a rock star, or well he used to be but he still holds the same beliefs that he did when he was one. He does nothing, I mean nothing around the house. He gives Merlin porn filled magazines among many other things. But he is great with Merlin. His first conversation with him had Lucy cringing to see what Archie's reaction would be but he brushes it off and makes a joke of it. He becomes an (interesting) father figure for Merlin and slowly captures the heart of Lucy. But with her ex husband just on the other side of her front door, she gets thrown around an emotional roller coaster.

A truly moving and quirky story that left me wanting more. This is a very new read for me, I generally try to steer away from adult books that have deep issues, from past experience I get too caught up in the sadness and end up bawling my eyes out. But this was a refreshing take on Asperger's taking a serious topic and giving it humor and love and all the things you could want in a story.

I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. If this isn't your typical read then I more than highly recommend it to you. It might open some new doors for you like it did for me! If you are a fan of John Green's quirky and beautiful writing, then this might be one that you like. See my review of An Abundance of Katherines by John Green.

Have you read this? What did you think? Do you have any recommendations of books that are similar or have the same feel?

Happy reading!
See below the bump for the review!

I have been wanting to read Of Poseidon for a while. When it was first released I just couldn't get over how gorgeous the contrasting colours of the cover were. Gave me goosebumps! I have had this one sitting on my to-read list for yonks when my friend Jade saw that and said she had it and I could borrow it! *Squee!* So thanks Jade!!

Of Poseidon is the first in a thrilling series revolving around mythology. Very exciting for me as I haven't red too many on the topic!

First of all there is Emma, just your average teenage girl. Or so she thinks. Emma is pretty shy when we first get to know her, but we see that she can be fiery when need be. She has great power she knew nothing about. While she is on vacation and at the beach with her white blond hair and pasty skin she comes across the most gorgeous boy. By comes across I mean she runs into him. Literally runs into him. Awkwaaarrrd! What a klutz! Not far into this story Emma and her best friend, while at the beach, encounter a shark. It's not often in Young Adult books, particularly ones that aren't thrillers, the author's include gruesome details. But Anna Banks is not afraid. She includes, in pretty gruesome detail their interaction with the shark. The shark latching on to her best friends legs, not being able to wrench free and the pool of red that surrounds them. What a way to start a book! Though it was definitely not what I was expecting, nor did it completely sit right with me, I felt that it was crucial to the story line for Emma.

Galen, ahhemmm, Prince Galon. After hearing word of a girl in the human world who can supposedly talk to fish, Galon and his sister swim to shore to investigate. Upon getting there Galon feels a strong pull, a very strong pull. A pull that he can only feel when there is another of his kind around. It's unusual that he should feel this on land, and whats more unusual is that he is the only one who feels it. Galon and his sister are at the beach just chin-chilling, when, yeah you guessed it, Emma walks into him. But how could it be that Emma is one of them when she looks so incredibly different? Different skin tone, different hair colour. But those eyes. She has the eyes.

All of Emma's life she thought she was human, only to find out by a perfect (and I do mean perfect!!!) stranger, that she is in fact Syrena. And then she finds out that she is neither!! Where does that leave her?! While she is figuring all this out she is supposed to save the entire race of Syrena? A species she has only known existed for all of 5 minutes? INTENSE!

Of Poseidon is a truly gripping story with characters you love to hate and even some you hate to love. With references to Atlantis, a topic I love to read about, I thoroughly enjoyed this emotional roller coaster.

I highly recommend Of Poseidon to those who enjoyed My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent. Similar themes with a very different concept, both of which I find to be pretty unique!

So what do you think about Of Poseidon?!

Happy reading!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I know it might be totally cliche but I really loved this quote when I came across it. Roald Dahl really knows what he is talking about. You know you can always tell when people are having good and happy thoughts and they just look happy and friendly? Then there are those people who you can tell aren't thinking that way because they look super cranky or they just look sad and down. You know what I'm sayin?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Particularly working in retail I've learnt to read people a bit better. I usually always tell who's going to be a cranky customer and who's going to be a customer I end up chatting away with.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I always want to be that person who see's the good. It's not always possible obviously but I always try to be the happiest I can be and I end up being a bit silly in the process but I'm happy and that's what counts.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Sorry for the little DnM there guys but you feel me, right?
