Q: What hyped up book was worth all of the fuss?

I have a feeling that there are going to be many of the same answers across the board for this one. Do I have to just pick one?! That's so hard. Ok I will have to say Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I devoured this book. I finished it in one sitting and was left wanting more. The whole premise of the book is so intriguing and I'm so glad that Tahereh Mafi more than pulled this book off. It is now one of my favourites and I can't wait for the second!

Question of the Week: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

My favourite bands/singers change all the time but at the moment I would have to say that He Is We is up there:



Every time I hear this song it makes me think of John Green's books. There is just something about it that makes me feel like I'm reading one of his books!

Then there is We Are The In Crowd <3<3 so much love for this band!

With the New Year approaching fast, this weeks question is only fitting!

"The New Year is here -- and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?"

This year is the first New Year that my little blog has seen! I have been finding that lately I have been buying more and more books before I get the chance to actually read the ones I already have. So my New Year's Blogging Resolution this year is to go on a BOOK BUYING BAN *gasp!* with Taneika @ Flipping Through the Pages until we finish the pile of books we have waiting to be read! It's going to be really tough, especially since starting my blog and seeing all of your lovely book posts. 

I have a feeling that I will be finding any excuse to go to the shops to buy books up until the New Year. That only gives me two days...  If you follow me on twitter, you can expect some very distressed tweets as I go into book buying withdrawal. 

My second resolution is to actually have a review schedule and to get more posts done in advance, so when I do get busy, the posts are all there ready to go! I also need to organise a blog button

Hi everyone!

This weeks question is:

"If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?"

This is such a hard question for me to answer. There are many books that I would like to live in, but then I think about all the baddies in the books and I have to stop and think! Oh I just don't know!! Of course there is Harry Potter (I have a feeling this will be a popular choice), but with that comes He Who Must Not be Named! Or I would pick Julie Kagawa's world from the Iron Fey series, or Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series (I decided to pick more than one since HP will be a popular choice today!) There are so many good books out there, I couldn't imagine spending eternity in just one!

This weeks question is a doozey!


"What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!"


Love triangles. They drive me insane!! Ok so they don't always drive me insane and I don't know what it is about them. I will get hooked on a character... and then oh wait no! lets through another love interest in, who is by far not as dreamy as the first. Then lets have the main character pick the not so dreamy for one book in the series and make me mad.


OR there are the times when there are two great love interests and even I can't pick which one I like better. It's just so stressful!


Then there are other things like names that I have no idea how to pronounce. I wouldn't mind if there was a written pronunciation of the name so I could get through the book without having to call the character K short for Kaivusdgvbmjdh (obviously not an actual characters name, but you get the idea).

Cliffhangers. Don't even get me started. They are so cruel. Especially for dedicated fans who read the book the first week it's out then has to wait a year or so to find out what happens!!

"It's Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. so we want to know what you are Thankful for - blogging related of course! Who has helped you out along the way? What books are you thankful for reading?"

I'm not American and we don't have Thanksgiving in Australia but that won't stop me from answering this question!!

I am thankful for many things about blogging. Of course I am thankful to all of my followers! Without you guys there would be no Following The Reader! I am also ever thankful for Goodreads... Without it I probably wouldn't have discovered there is a whole world of book people just as obsessed as me!

Some book bloggers I am thankful for:

Giselle at Xpresso Reads and Taneika at Flipping Through the Pages. Both of these lovely ladies have been there pretty much since I started my blogging journey!

I also have Sophie at Born to Buy to thank, she isn't a book blogger, but if it wasn't for her I probably wouldn't have started a blog in the first place. We got talking one day about YouTuber's and how we are way not game enough to make YouTube channels and that blogs would probably suit us best!

What books am I thankful for reading? There are so many. Tomorrow When the War Began - John Marsden would have to be a big one. This one I had to read for school, back when I hated reading (don't hate me! I love it now and that's what matters!) and it got me into reading. Then I hit a slump and Twilight came along. I have to admit that I'm not as big of a fan as what I used to be, but Twilight is the book that got me reading again!

Then there are other books I'm thankful for such as:

One for the Money - Janet Evanovich

Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday #3

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy-For-Books. It was created for book bloggers and readers to discover new blogs they wish to follow!


“As a blog reader, what information (besides the book review) do you like to see in other bloggers’ reviews of books? (For example – Author bio, social media links, book synopsis from Amazon/Goodreads or one written by the blogger, page count, ISBN number, link to purchase, etc.)”


As a blog reader, right off the bat I would like to know whether the reviewer liked the book or not. It doesn't necessarily have to be a rating, just a statement of whether you loved it, liked it, or didn't like it. I don't mind where the synopsis comes from, whether the reviewer writes it or it comes from Amazon/Goodreads. I like links to purchases or links to goodreads so I can easily add it to my constantly increasing to-read list! I like to know the page count but it isn't a big deal because I know that Goodreads will have it. 


The one thing that I think the review must have, is an image of the cover! I just like knowing what the covers look like, I don't necessarily 'judge' a book by it's cover, but I still like to know what the cover looks like. So I can put a cover to a book in my mind.

"Do you have a favorite series that you read over and over again? Tell us a bit about it and why you keep on revisiting it?"

Generally I don't like to re-read series over and over. If it has been a really long time since I have read the series, so I don't remember what happens, I may re-read it then. I prefer to discover new books and authors rather than go back to the books I have already read! I like to be surprised by the plot and characters, which I'm not if I'm re-reading a book! There are very few books that I have read more than once, but if I had nothing to read I would probably re-read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. The books in this series are super fun and mostly light hearted. If I'm looking for a fun easy read and have nothing on the go already, I will pick these books up. The first in the series is called One for the Money. It's gotten to the point that I'm not sure what happens in which book, it all sort of blends together into one big long story.
